Welcome to Becoming A Different Kind of Professional, a Notre Dame Law CDO Blog, focusing on Chicago careers, public interest and government law, externships, and finding joy and success on your professional career path. I will use this blog for all career communications so as to avoid cluttering students’ inboxes with emails so if you want to be regularly informed about the topics mentioned above, make this blog a regular part of your daily reading.
This blog is written by me, Katelynn McBride Barbosa, and I am the Program Director for Public Interest & Chicago Initiatives in Notre Dame Law School’s Career Development Office. I am based full-time in Notre Dame’s Chicago office, where I pioneer Notre Dame Law School’s employer outreach efforts and manage site visits for the Notre Dame Law in Chicago externship program. I also return to South Bend regularly to conduct in-person counseling sessions.
Beyond my passion for and commitment to helping students find careers they are excited about, I am a diehard Denver Broncos fan, paleo cooker and eater, powerlifter, and stand-up comedy lover. My life’s philosophy is to say “Yes!” to new experiences and to approach life with a sense of humor and positive attitude.
I live with my husband, Vince, in the Edgewater neighborhood of Chicago.
