If you’re a rising 3L even vaguely interested in public interest, read this!

As you prepare to go into your 2L summer, if you’re interested in exploring the possibility of a public interest career after graduation, as early as it may seem, now is the time to have a conversation with me.

As you may have heard by now, the best way to start your public interest career is through a public interest fellowship. There are hundreds of public interest fellowships out there, many of which enable you to chose the organization you want to work for and create your own job by designing a two-year project. Notre Dame even has two fellowships devoted exclusively to Notre Dame students. Many of these fellowships have application deadlines in September and October and because there are so many moving parts to the applications and you need to find an organization willing to host you, it is best to get started on this process before the summer even starts.

With that in mind, I am currently scheduling counseling appointments for rising 3Ls interested in potentially exploring post-graduate public interest careers. It only takes a 15 minute conversation and all you have to do to schedule an appointment is send me an email at katelynn.mcbride@nd.edu.

I will work around your schedule and find a time that is convenient for you. You are not committing to anything by talking to me. Instead, we will explore your interests, talk through options, and create a strategy that best fits your goals, even if that strategy ultimately doesn’t include public interest work.

So send me an email and we’ll get started!
